About the Facilitator

Mitchell Kossak PhD, LMHC, RPP, is a licensed counselor, music therapist, sound healer, Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Body Work and Registered Polarity Practitioner in private practice, with over 23 years experience working in the healing arts. He has been the Academic Coordinator for International Expressive Arts Therapies at Lesley University since 1999.  He is an adjunct faculty member of the Polarity Institute, The Muscular Therapy Institute, The Winchester Music School and the Groden Center for Autistic children.  He has also been a professional musician for over 30 years performing regularly in the Boston area.

His clinical work combines expressive arts therapies with body centered approaches and energetic healing modalities with a variety of populations addressing issues such as chronic pain, recovery from trauma, depression, anxiety and relationships.

Mitchell has trained in a variety of mind body modalities including Polarity Therapy, and Craniosacral Therapy.  In Expressive Arts Therapies he has studied, music therapy, experimental theater, psychodrama, and authentic movement.  He has also trained with Dr. Salvador Roquet, integrating body-oriented psychotherapies and expressive arts with traditional psychoanalytic practice.

Mitchell has studied Sound Healing with pioneers in the field of sacred sound and transformation of consciousness, such as Dr. John Beaulieu author of Music and Sound in the Healing Arts and Silvia Nakkach director of the Vox Mundi Project.

In addition to this training Mitchell has studied and practiced energy based healing forms such as Tai Chi, Chi Gong, Vispassana meditation, and Iyengar yoga.
